English A. & J. Zimmerman Sterling Silver Cigarette Box, c. 1901

This listing is for a nice English Sterling Silver cigarette box, c. 1901. The box has a an almost square shape with rounded corners with a slightly convex shaped top  The bottom piece is lined with wood for keeping .moisture from the contents. The top of the box is decorated with a fancy intertwined 3-letter monogram "C R P". The hinge is tight and the box opens and closes correctly. Marked on the exterior side panel of top and in the center of side on lower section with English hallmarks for Birmingham, Sterling, date letter for 1901 and maker's stamp of A.  J. Zimmerman who was in business from 1900-1913.
Measures 2 1/2" high, 3 3/4" long an 3 1/2" wide. Weighs 365 grams (including wood interior).
This lovely box is in very good Estate condition although there are a few dents from normal wear/handling. The box has a dent on the left front and left back corners and there are two smaller dings with one on the top left edge and the other on the center back edge.
